Harry Dean Stanton (Deceased) Harry Dean Stanton was an American actor and musician known for his distinctive presence and long career as a character actor. He was born on July 14, 1926, in West Irvine, Kentucky. Stanton served in the U.S. Navy during World War II before pursuing acting. He began appearing in films and television during the 1950s and became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable supporting performers. His notable films included Cool Hand Luke, The Godfather Part II, Alien, Escape from New York, Christine, Repo Man, Pretty in Pink, and The Green Mile. One of his rare leading roles came in Wim Wenders’ acclaimed 1984 film Paris, Texas, in which his performance received widespread praise. Stanton also appeared frequently on television, including a recurring role on the HBO series Big Love and a memorable appearance in Twin Peaks. In addition to acting, Stanton was an accomplished singer and musician who performed regularly with his own band. Harry Dean Stanton died on September 15, 2017, at age 91.
