Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Ohio

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young were a highly influential folk-rock supergroup known for intricate vocal harmonies, strong songwriting, and a blend of rock, folk, and country influences. The group consisted of David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young. Crosby, Stills & Nash first formed in 1968, bringing together former members of The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Hollies. Their self-titled 1969 debut album featured songs such as "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," "Marrakesh Express," and "Guinnevere" and quickly established them as a major force in American rock music. Neil Young joined soon afterward, and the expanded group became Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Their 1970 album "Déjà Vu" was a major commercial and critical success and included enduring songs such as "Teach Your Children," "Our House," "Woodstock," and "Carry On." The group also recorded the protest song "Ohio," written by Young after the 1970 Kent State shootings. CSNY became closely associated with the counterculture and political atmosphere of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Internal tensions and the members' successful solo careers led to frequent breakups and reunions over the years. David Crosby died in 2023. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young remain celebrated for their exceptional harmonies, influential songwriting, and lasting impact on folk rock and popular music.
