The Everly Brothers - Walk Righ Back

The Everly Brothers were an influential American rock and roll and country duo consisting of brothers Don Everly and Phil Everly. Known for their close, distinctive vocal harmonies, they became one of the most important musical acts of the late 1950s and early 1960s and had a major influence on later artists including The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, and The Beach Boys. The brothers achieved their first major success in 1957 with "Bye Bye Love," which became a hit on the pop, country, and R&B charts. They followed it with a remarkable string of popular recordings including "Wake Up Little Susie," "All I Have to Do Is Dream," "Bird Dog," "Devoted to You," "Cathy's Clown," and "When Will I Be Loved." Their sound blended country music, rock and roll, and pop, with Don usually singing the lower harmony and Phil the higher part. Their seamless vocal style became one of the most recognizable sounds in early rock music. The Everly Brothers experienced personal and professional tensions and temporarily split in 1973, but reunited a decade later and continued performing together for many years. They were among the first artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. Phil Everly died in 2014, and Don Everly died in 2021. The Everly Brothers remain celebrated as pioneers of harmony-based rock and roll whose recordings helped shape generations of popular music.
