Wink Martindale - Deck Of Cards

Wink Martindale (Deceased) was an American radio personality, television host, producer, and singer best known for hosting numerous television game shows over a career spanning more than six decades. Born Winston Conrad Martindale in Jackson, Tennessee, in 1933, he began working in radio while still a teenager and later became a familiar voice and face in American broadcasting. Martindale first gained national attention as a disc jockey and television personality. In 1959, he also had a recording hit with "Deck of Cards," a spoken-word song that reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. He became especially well known as a game-show host, appearing on programs including "Gambit," "Tic-Tac-Dough," "High Rollers," and "Debt." His polished delivery, distinctive voice, and easygoing manner made him a popular and recognizable television personality from the 1960s through the 1990s and beyond. In addition to hosting, Martindale worked as a producer and remained active in broadcasting, game-show history, and entertainment-related projects for many years. He was also known for preserving and discussing classic television through interviews and archival programs. Wink Martindale died in 2025 at age 91.
