Bread - Make It With You

Bread was an American soft rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1968, best known for a series of melodic hit songs during the early 1970s. The group's classic lineup featured David Gates, James Griffin, Robb Royer, and Mike Botts, with Larry Knechtel later joining the band. Bread became one of the most successful soft rock groups of its era, combining gentle arrangements, polished harmonies, and emotionally direct songwriting. David Gates wrote and sang many of the band's best-known songs, including "Make It with You," "If," "Everything I Own," "Diary," "Baby I'm-a Want You," and "The Guitar Man." "Make It with You" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970 and helped establish Bread as a major pop act. The band was especially popular for romantic ballads, though its albums also included more rock-oriented material written by James Griffin and other members. Bread broke up in the 1970s but later reunited for tours and performances. David Gates also enjoyed a successful solo career, while James Griffin continued working as a songwriter and musician.
