Robocop

"RoboCop" is a 1987 American science-fiction action film directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Peter Weller as police officer Alex Murphy, who is transformed into the powerful cyborg law-enforcement officer known as RoboCop. Set in a crime-ridden near-future Detroit, the story follows Murphy after he is brutally attacked and killed by a gang led by criminal Clarence Boddicker, played by Kurtwood Smith. The powerful corporation Omni Consumer Products uses Murphy's remains as part of an experimental program, rebuilding him as a heavily armored cyborg designed to fight crime. As RoboCop begins patrolling Detroit, fragments of Murphy's memories gradually return. He starts investigating his own death and discovers corruption connecting Boddicker's gang with senior executives at OCP. Nancy Allen co-stars as Officer Anne Lewis, Murphy's former police partner, who recognizes that part of the man she knew still exists inside RoboCop. The film became known for combining intense action with dark comedy, satire, and criticism of corporate greed, privatization, sensationalized news media, and consumer culture. RoboCop's distinctive armor, mechanical movements, and famous line "Dead or alive, you're coming with me" quickly became part of popular culture. "RoboCop" was a critical and commercial success and led to sequels, television productions, comics, video games, toys, and a 2014 remake.
