Gary Cooper - The pride of the Yankees

Gary Cooper (Deceased) was an American actor and one of the most enduring leading men of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Born Frank James Cooper on May 7, 1901, in Helena, Montana, he became known for his quiet, natural acting style, rugged screen presence, and portrayals of courageous, principled men. Cooper rose to stardom during the late silent era and became a major box-office attraction throughout the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. His best-known films include "A Farewell to Arms," "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town," "Beau Geste," "Meet John Doe," "The Pride of the Yankees," "For Whom the Bell Tolls," and "High Noon." He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for "Sergeant York" and again for "High Noon." In "High Noon," Cooper played Marshal Will Kane, a lawman forced to face a group of killers largely on his own. The performance became one of the defining roles of his career. Cooper was equally successful in Westerns, romantic dramas, war films, and comedies.
