Muhammad Ali (Deceased) was an American professional boxer, Olympic gold medalist, and cultural icon widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight fighters in boxing history. Born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. on January 17, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky, he began boxing as a teenager and won a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. Ali became world heavyweight champion in 1964 when he defeated Sonny Liston in a major upset. Soon afterward, he announced his conversion to Islam and adopted the name Muhammad Ali. Known for his speed, footwork, quick reflexes, and colorful personality, he famously described his style with the phrase "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." His career included legendary fights against Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Ken Norton, and Sonny Liston.
