Charlie's Angels

"Charlie's Angels" entered its second season in 1977 with an important change to the original cast. Farrah Fawcett left the series as a regular after the highly successful first season, and Cheryl Ladd joined Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith as the newest Angel. The 1977–78 lineup featured Kate Jackson as Sabrina Duncan, Jaclyn Smith as Kelly Garrett, and Cheryl Ladd as Kris Munroe, the younger sister of Fawcett's character Jill Munroe. David Doyle continued as John Bosley, while John Forsythe provided the unmistakable voice of their unseen employer, Charles "Charlie" Townsend. The season opened with the two-part episode "Angels in Paradise," which introduced Kris and sent the Angels to Hawaii on a dangerous assignment. Cheryl Ladd quickly became a popular member of the cast and remained with the series for the rest of its run. Farrah Fawcett also returned for several guest appearances as Jill Munroe during the season. The stories continued to place the Angels in undercover situations involving murder, kidnapping, organized crime, theft, and other investigations, often requiring them to assume colorful disguises and identities. The 1977–78 season helped prove that "Charlie's Angels" could remain a major television success despite the departure of its most publicized original star. The Jackson-Smith-Ladd lineup became one of the best-remembered versions of the series, making photographs and autographs featuring these three actresses particularly recognizable to collectors of classic television memorabilia.
