June Allyson - The Glenn Miller Story

June Allyson (Deceased) was an American actress, singer, and dancer who became one of MGM's most popular stars during the 1940s and 1950s. Born October 7, 1917, in the Bronx, New York, she began her career as a dancer before moving into Broadway productions and motion pictures. Allyson became known for her warm, wholesome screen image and often played devoted wives and romantic leads. Her notable films included "Two Girls and a Sailor," "Good News," "Little Women," "The Stratton Story," "The Glenn Miller Story," "Executive Suite," and "Strategic Air Command." She frequently appeared opposite leading actors such as James Stewart and Van Johnson. In "The Glenn Miller Story," Allyson starred opposite James Stewart in the popular 1954 musical biography of bandleader Glenn Miller. The film became one of the best-known movies of her career and remains a favorite among fans of classic Hollywood and big-band music. June Allyson died on July 8, 2006, at age 88.
