Grace Slick - Jefferson Airplane

Grace Slick is an American singer, songwriter, and artist best known as one of the defining voices of the San Francisco psychedelic rock scene. Born October 30, 1939, in Highland Park, Illinois, she rose to prominence in the 1960s as a member of Jefferson Airplane. Slick sang lead vocals on several of the group's most famous recordings, including "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit," both of which became enduring classics of psychedelic rock. She later performed with Jefferson Starship and Starship, contributing to hits such as "Miracles," "We Built This City," and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now." Known for her powerful contralto voice, outspoken personality, and commanding stage presence, Slick became one of the most recognizable female rock performers of her era. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 as a member of Jefferson Airplane. After retiring from music, Slick focused on visual art.
