Jonathan Brandis (Deceased) Jonathan Brandis was an American actor who became a popular young star during the late 1980s and 1990s. He was born on April 13, 1976, in Danbury, Connecticut. Brandis began his career as a child model and actor, appearing in commercials before moving into television and film. He gained widespread attention for portraying Bastian Bux in The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter in 1990. He also starred as Bill Denbrough in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s It. One of his best-known roles came in the television series seaQuest DSV, in which he played teenage computer genius Lucas Wolenczak from 1993 to 1996. Brandis appeared in other films including Ladybugs, Sidekicks, and Outside Providence, as well as numerous television programs. During the height of his popularity, he became a major teen idol and was frequently featured in entertainment and fan magazines. Jonathan Brandis died on November 12, 2003, at age 27, after sustaining injuries from a suicide attempt.
