Denise Crosby Denise Crosby is an American actress best known for portraying Lieutenant Tasha Yar on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. She was born on November 24, 1957, in Hollywood, California, and is the granddaughter of entertainer Bing Crosby. Crosby joined Star Trek: The Next Generation when the series premiered in 1987. Her character, Tasha Yar, served as the USS Enterprise’s security chief during the first season. Although Crosby left the regular cast, she later returned for several memorable appearances, including alternate-timeline and related roles.
