Rosemary Clooney (Deceased) Rosemary Clooney was an American singer and actress known for her warm, expressive voice and success in traditional pop and jazz. She was born on May 23, 1928, in Maysville, Kentucky. Clooney began singing professionally with her sister Betty before launching a solo career. She became one of the most popular vocalists of the 1950s with hits such as “Come On-a My House,” “Hey There,” “This Ole House,” and “Mambo Italiano.” She also appeared in motion pictures, most notably the 1954 holiday classic White Christmas alongside Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and Vera-Ellen. Although changing musical tastes affected her career in the 1960s, Clooney later made a successful comeback as a respected jazz and standards singer. She recorded extensively in later decades and earned renewed critical acclaim for her interpretations of classic American songs. Clooney was also the aunt of actor George Clooney. Her long career made her one of the most enduring popular singers of her generation. Rosemary Clooney died on June 29, 2002, at age 74, from lung cancer.
