Jackie Collins (Deceased) Jackie Collins was a British-American novelist best known for her glamorous, fast-paced stories about Hollywood, wealth, ambition, romance, and scandal. She was born on October 4, 1937, in London, England, and was the younger sister of actress Joan Collins. Collins began writing novels after briefly pursuing acting. Her first book, The World Is Full of Married Men, was published in 1968 and became a major success. She went on to write more than 30 novels, many of which became international bestsellers. Among her best-known works are Hollywood Wives, Chances, Lucky, Lady Boss, and The Stud. Several of her novels were adapted for television or film. Her recurring character Lucky Santangelo became one of the most recognizable figures in her fiction. Collins was known for drawing inspiration from the entertainment industry and for portraying powerful, ambitious women who often controlled their own destinies. Her books sold hundreds of millions of copies worldwide and were translated into numerous languages. Jackie Collins died on September 19, 2015, at age 77, from breast cancer.
