Naomi Judd - Country Music Hall of Fame in 2022

Naomi Judd (Deceased) Naomi Judd (1946–2022) was an American country music singer and songwriter best known as one half of the highly successful mother-daughter duo The Judds, performing alongside her daughter Wynonna Judd. Born Diana Ellen Judd in Ashland, Kentucky, she worked in several occupations, including nursing, before pursuing music professionally. In the early 1980s, Naomi and Wynonna began performing together and soon became one of country music’s most popular acts. The Judds scored numerous hit songs, including “Mama He’s Crazy,” “Why Not Me,” “Grandpa (Tell Me ’Bout the Good Old Days),” and “Love Can Build a Bridge.” Their close vocal harmonies and traditional country sound earned them widespread popularity and numerous awards. Naomi retired from regular touring in 1991 after being diagnosed with hepatitis C, although she later made occasional appearances and reunion performances with Wynonna. She also became an author, motivational speaker, and television personality. The Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2022. Naomi died on April 30, 2022, at age 76, shortly before the induction ceremony. She is remembered as an important figure in modern country music and for helping make The Judds one of the genre’s most successful family acts.
