John Gielgud - Academy Award for Athrur

John Gielgud (Deceased) (April 14, 1904 – May 21, 2000) was an acclaimed English actor and director whose career spanned more than seven decades across stage, film, television, and radio. Born in London, Gielgud became one of the leading Shakespearean actors of the 20th century. He was especially celebrated for roles such as Hamlet, Richard II, Prospero, and King Lear, and was known for his exceptionally clear, expressive speaking voice. Although primarily associated with the theater early in his career, Gielgud later became a familiar film actor. His notable movies included Becket (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), Caligula (1979), Arthur (1981), Chariots of Fire (1981), Gandhi (1982), and Elizabeth (1998). He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as the dryly humorous butler Hobson in Arthur. He also received Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards, making him one of the relatively few performers to achieve EGOT status. Gielgud was knighted in 1953 and remained a highly respected figure in British acting until his death.
