Peter Marshall - Hollywood Squares

(Deceased) Peter Marshall (March 30, 1926 – August 15, 2024) was an American television and radio personality, actor, singer, and entertainer best known as the original host of The Hollywood Squares. He hosted the popular celebrity game show from 1966 to 1981, appearing in more than 5,000 episodes and winning several Emmy Awards. Born Ralph Pierre LaCock in Huntington, West Virginia, Marshall began his career as a singer and comedian. He performed in a comedy act with Tommy Noonan and later appeared in stage productions, films, nightclubs, and television variety programs. His Broadway credits included Skyscraper and La Cage aux Folles. Marshall’s polished manner, quick wit, and ability to manage the show’s unpredictable celebrity panel helped make The Hollywood Squares a television classic. After leaving the program, he continued acting, singing, hosting television specials, and appearing as a guest on game shows and talk programs. He also hosted a nationally syndicated radio program featuring music and interviews.
