Lea Thompson - Back to the Future

Lea Thompson - (born May 31, 1961) is an American actress, director, and producer best known for playing Lorraine Baines McFly in the *Back to the Future* film trilogy. Born in Rochester, Minnesota, Thompson trained extensively as a ballet dancer before turning to acting. She began appearing in commercials and films during the early 1980s, with roles in *Jaws 3-D*, *Red Dawn*, *All the Right Moves*, and *Some Kind of Wonderful*. Her performance in *Back to the Future* (1985) brought her widespread recognition. She later starred in the television comedy-drama *Caroline in the City*, which ran from 1995 to 1999, and appeared in films such as *Howard the Duck*, *The Beverly Hillbillies*, and *Dennis the Menace*. Thompson has also worked extensively as a television director, directing episodes of programs including *The Goldbergs*, *Young Sheldon*, and *Star Trek: Picard*. She is married to film director Howard Deutch, and their daughters, Zoey Deutch and Madelyn Deutch, also work in entertainment.
