(Deceased) Julian Bond (January 14, 1940–August 15, 2015) was an American civil rights leader, politician, educator and writer. He helped found the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and later served in both the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia Senate. Bond was also chairman of the NAACP and became a prominent lecturer and commentator on civil rights and social justice.
