(Deceased) Art Carney (born November 4, 1918 – died November 9, 2003) was an American actor and comedian, best remembered for playing sewer worker Ed Norton opposite Jackie Gleason on the classic television comedy The Honeymooners. His performance earned him multiple Emmy Awards and made Norton one of television’s most beloved comic characters. Carney also enjoyed a successful film career, winning the Academy Award for Best Actor for Harry and Tonto in 1975. A World War II veteran who was wounded during the Normandy campaign, he continued acting in television, film, and theater for several decades.
