(Deceased) Gerald Ford (July 14, 1913 – December 26, 2006) was the 38th president of the United States, serving from 1974 to 1977 after the resignation of Richard Nixon. He previously served as vice president and represented Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives for nearly 25 years, including eight years as House minority leader. Ford is the only person to have served as both vice president and president without being elected to either office. His presidency included efforts to restore public trust after the Watergate scandal, the end of American involvement in Vietnam, and his controversial pardon of Nixon.
