(Deceased) Davy Jones (December 30, 1945 – February 29, 2012) was an English singer, musician, and actor best known as a member of the popular 1960s television and music group The Monkees. Before joining the group, he appeared on stage in the musical Oliver! and received a Tony Award nomination. With The Monkees, Jones sang lead on such hits as “Daydream Believer” and “I Wanna Be Free.” He later continued performing as a solo artist and made numerous television appearances. Jones died of a heart attack at age 66.
