Richard Lester (born January 19, 1932) is an American film director known for his innovative, fast-paced visual style and offbeat humor. He became internationally famous for directing the Beatles films A Hard Day’s Night and Help! His other notable movies include The Three Musketeers, The Four Musketeers, Robin and Marian, Superman II, and Superman III. Born in Philadelphia, Lester spent most of his career in Great Britain and became closely associated with British cinema of the 1960s.
