Martha Raye

Martha Raye (Deceased; August 27, 1916 – October 19, 1994) was an American actress, singer, and comedian whose career spanned film, television, theater, and live entertainment. Known for her energetic comic style and powerful singing voice, she appeared in films such as The Big Broadcast of 1936, Hellzapoppin’, and Monsieur Verdoux. Raye was also deeply admired for entertaining American troops during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, earning the affectionate nickname “Colonel Maggie.”
