Clint Eastwood

Born May 31, 1930. Clint Eastwood is an American actor, director and producer whose career has made him one of the most enduring figures in motion-picture history. He first gained widespread recognition as Rowdy Yates on the television Western *Rawhide*. Eastwood then became an international star as the mysterious “Man with No Name” in Sergio Leone’s *Dollars Trilogy*. He later created another iconic character as tough police inspector Harry Callahan in the *Dirty Harry* film series. Eastwood successfully moved behind the camera and became one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed directors. His films include *Play Misty for Me*, *The Outlaw Josey Wales*, *Unforgiven*, *Mystic River*, *Million Dollar Baby*, *Gran Torino*, *American Sniper* and *Sully*. He won Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture for both *Unforgiven* and *Million Dollar Baby*. Known for his understated acting style, distinctive voice and efficient filmmaking, Eastwood remained active in the motion-picture industry well into his nineties.
