Tony Danza

Born April 21, 1951. Tony Danza is an American actor, television personality and former professional boxer best known for his starring roles in the popular sitcoms *Taxi* and *Who’s the Boss?* Danza first gained national attention as Tony Banta, a good-natured boxer and cab driver on *Taxi*, which aired from 1978 to 1983. He became even more widely recognized as Tony Micelli, a retired baseball player who becomes a housekeeper, on *Who’s the Boss?* The series ran from 1984 to 1992 and established Danza as one of television’s most familiar leading men. His other television work includes *Hudson Street*, *The Tony Danza Show*, *Family Law* and *Teach: Tony Danza*. He has also appeared in films such as *Going Ape!*, *She’s Out of Control*, *Angels in the Outfield* and *Don Jon*. In addition to acting, Danza has performed on Broadway and in nightclub shows as a singer and entertainer. Known for his warm personality, humor and working-class charm, he has remained a recognizable figure in American entertainment for decades.
