Al Hirt

(Deceased) Al Hirt (November 7, 1922 – April 27, 1999) was an American trumpeter and bandleader known for his powerful sound and lively performances. Nicknamed “Jumbo,” he became a major recording and television star in the 1960s, with hits such as “Java” and “Cotton Candy.” Hirt was closely associated with New Orleans jazz and remained one of the most recognizable trumpet players of his era.
